Lawn Installation and over-seeding
The urban myth of grass that only needs to cut a couple of times per year.
True low maintenance lawn grass is available!
January 9/ 2009 While attending the Landscape Ontario Congress in Toronto. I came face to face with what many turf professionals consider the equivalent of seeing a Unicorn! I met a couple who run a business dedicated the propagation of native plants and wildflowers, among the items listed in their seed catalogue is a blend of grasses called Eco-lawn. They also had a sample tray of this lush bright green fine bladed grass with them. Needless to say I wanted to know more, I collected all the information they had and talked to them at length.
A quote from their brochure:
“Eco- Lawn is the ultimate low maintenance lawn. Specially designed blend of seven fine fescue grasses, thrives in full sun, part shade, and even deep shade condition! Eco-lawn is far more drought tolerant than traditional turf grass because it makes roots that grow much deeper than other turfs, enabling Eco-lawn to source its own water from the soil!
Because Eco-Lawn is slow growing, it reduces your mowing to once a month, saving you up to 75% of your maintenance costs over the course of an entire growing season! What’s more, Eco-Lawn is less vulnerable to grubs and never needs fertilizing! Best of all, it grows into a dense turf with a soft inviting texture that is great to walk upon”
We will be bringing in some of this seed for our own trial. We will do new seedings or over seed with this blend for anyone who requests it. Call early!
So you’ve just completed building your dream home!
Grass seeding is a very quick and economical way to establish a large area of lawn. We give a great deal of attention to detail during this process, as we do with every other segment of your landscape. The plan begins with the selection of a blend of grass seed suitable to your soil type and lawn use. Next any small grade adjustments are made. Proper base preparation, using a gill to get a well leveled fine seed bed that will aid in full fast germination of the seed. Starter fertilizer is added and worked into the soil profile during the seed bed preparation. We use the same type of equipment as sod farms to drill the seed into the seed bed with the soil set at the correct depth, to give the highest germination rate possible for the largest landscape element of your new home.
Over-seeding damaged lawns
Many lawns become patchy and thin and worn through time, over seeding with Wood Grounds Maintenance seven step process can bring these lawns back to being a lush inviting carpet. Book well in advance of spring to avoid disappointment.
For smaller areas or that larger project that requires a mature looking lawn now! We also do site preparation and installation of sod. Please note that: Eco-Lawn cannot be purchased in sod form.
From mid April to the end of May is a good time to seed or over seed a lawn.
(Early spring as soon as the soil is dry enough to work)
Late August until Thanksgiving is THE BEST TIME TO SEED A NEW LAWN
